About Joel

Joel first picked up a club at the age of 4 years old at Chalk Mountain Golf Course in Atascadero, California. If his parents were at the golf course, Joel often tagged along. His family moved to the coastal town of Ventura, California and in high school, Joel began playing competitively. Working at Olivias Park Golf Course he found a deep interest for playing at a higher level.

He played for Ventura High School, Ventura Junior College and then Colorado Christian University where he was a 3 time All Conference Team Member. He graduated from CCU with a Bachelors in Youth Ministry which led his young family to Southern Idaho. After working in both ministry and then golf at Blue Lakes Country Club, they moved back to Southern California where he worked at La Cumbre Country Club in Santa Barbara.

Inducted into the PGA in 2008; he has amassed 6 Runner Up finishes in PGA Section Events.

Joel has been a PGA instructor in the Eastern Panhandle for 6 years and has been teaching for the past 20 years. He has a strong instructional program which focuses on all aspects of a players game. His program utilizes modern technology of video and the GC3 simulator merged with traditional teaching philosophies.

Joel and his family have called West Virgina home since 2020. When he’s not playing the back nine you’ll find him can find himHe and his wife Kim have three children; Anna, Malia and William.
